ABOUT THE ROLE:

• Assist in design and engineering of complex tactical systems that require networking
• Setup, configure, test and fault-find end to end network connectivity between physical and virtual instances
• Advise on best practices and design for use of virtualised networked environments providing network facilities over physical or radio bearers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
• Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
• Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
• Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems.
• Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
• Coordinating computer network access and use.
• Designing, configuring, and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software.
• Work closely with the Insitec architects and engineers to develop end-to-end solutions for our clients.

Essential Criteria: 

• Demonstrated high level communications skills, both verbal and written,
• Demonstrated qualifications (tertiary or industry)
• Demonstrated experience working with Windows and RHEL/Fedora virtual connectivity
• Demonstrated experience in working with tactical networks
• Demonstrated capacity to work cohesively in an inclusive, values-based team environment, 
• Demonstrated high level prioritisation and organisational skills, including planning, management, and relevant documentation 
• Demonstrated understanding of the Information Technology (IT) industry – specifically related to the Australian Defence community including concepts, functions and roles,
• Demonstrated experience in diverse IT disciplines, focused on physical and virtualised networking.
